Our Beliefs

About God

We believe in one God who has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit equal in authority, but performing distinct, yet harmonious offices in the great work of human redemption. It is His desire that humanity cleaves to Him and has a relationship in loving communion as a relationship between father and child. He has created the universe and all within it, making people in His image. God, the eternal one, is perfect and will judge each individual at the end of the ages.

About Christ Jesus

We believe that Jesus was with God and is God and was with Him in the beginning; that through Him all things were made. Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary and lived life on earth as a man filled with the Spirit of God. He is the Messiah promised by God through the Holy Scriptures. He was crucified for the sin of mankind, thus making the only and final payment required for sin for those who receive the gift of eternal life through Him. Through His resurrection, believers can live a victorious life through the power of God and in the promise of eternal life everlasting.

About the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God – His very breath who dwells in the believers and stands by their sides as Helper and Comforter. We believe it is the Holy Spirit who convicts the world of sin and righteousness and who draws people to Jesus, as all He speaks points to the One God and Father.

About the Bible

We believe that the Bible is a revelation of the existence, perfection and will of God and was written by men divinely inspired. We believe the scripture is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training believers in righteousness, so as to be equipped for every good work. We believe that people are to be judged by its principles.

About Salvation

We believe that the salvation of sinners is only through Jesus the Christ; the one who shed His blood as payment for the sin of the world. We believe that salvation is a gift, not attainable by works, but completely a work of grace to be received by anyone who would come.

About Baptism

We believe that baptism by immersion is a public and outward proclamation of the identity with Jesus the Christ in death to sin and resurrection to new life.

About the Lord's Supper

We believe that the Lord's Supper is a remembrance of the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that as we partake of the bread and the wine we must consider and confess our sins so as not to be guilty of sin against the body and blood of Christ, thus bringing judgment upon ourselves. We believe all who have received Jesus as their Lord may participate in the sharing of the Lord's Supper.

About the Human Condition

We believe that all people are born into the fallen state of Adam and in that realm prefer sin to holiness as soon as we are capable of moral action. We believe that we are free moral agents to choose sin or righteousness and that we are separated from God by that sin until such time as we make a conscious decision to receive the atoning power of the Blood of Jesus. We believe then, that it is the obligation of the believer to obey the precepts as set down in the written scriptures.

About the Purpose, Place & Mission of the Church

We believe the church is to operate in the authority Jesus gave us and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and teach them to be doers of the Word of God. We believe we are to demonstrate the love of Christ to everyone and stand firmly for righteousness in a dark and fallen world.

About the Role of the Pastor

We believe the role of the pastor is to equip the congregation for the work of the ministry, and to bring guidance, leadership and love to people so as to enable them to be Jesus to their families, co-workers, and surrounding community. We believe the pastor should be a prayerful, godly individual who can be a righteous example in leading the local flock as a shepherd. We believe the preaching and teaching should be life giving and challenging to the people of God that they may mature in Christ and be sensitive to those who have needs around them.
