Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University
When we heard that 7 out of 10 Americans live paycheck to paycheck, we knew we had to do something. That's why First Baptist is offering Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. Financial Peace University (FPU) is the most practical financial information available and the most fun you'll ever have learning about money.
FPU classes are January 15 through April 15, skipping April 8 (Easter). The class meets at First Baptist Church of Mahomet Sunday evenings at 6:30 pm. The current FPU class full, but a new one may be offered in the Fall.
Other Activities
Mission Possible II
First Baptist went on our second "Mission Possibile" family mission trip to the Christian Activity Center (CAC) in East St. Louis August 12 and 13. Twenty people of all ages attended, and it was amazing to see God pull together such a diverse group and to see how, "With God, all things are possible" (Mark 10:27). God did the seemingly impossible and enabled us to be "salt and light" in the midst of poverty, crime and despair. It was great to be a part of what God is doing through the CAC, and to know we can make a difference in the lives of these young people again in 2011!
Cedar Rapids, Iowa Mission Trip
In May 2010 a group of volunteers traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to help with the flood recovery efforts after the devastating flood in 2008 that put most of that city under water. It was disheartening to see the amount of damage that still remained almost 2 years after the flood. Volunteers repaired homes and cleaned up garbage that was still strewn throughout the area. While they were unable to complete all the needed work, the area looked much better when it was time to go home.
Marriage Enrichment Weekend
First Baptist is answering the call to help couples make their marriages better, and we were honored to have Dr. Tim Gardner, President & CEO of Marriage Ministries, Inc (www.timalangardner.com
) lead our Marriage Enrichment Weekend in April 2010.
